Church History:
Mission United International was founded in 1997, when the Lord called Reverend Nelida Montalvo (pastor Nelly) to plant a church in Mount Vernon, NY. The church was founded on prayer and fasting by Pastor Nelly and a her collaborators. Later the church moved to Yonkers and was pastored by her son Rev. Juan Mendez Jr. until December 2020. MUI is a missions minded church having participated in missions to countries like Guatemala, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, Cuba, Ghana and Nigeria. The church has been under the leadership of the current pastor Rev. Carmen Liriano since January 2021 who also has a heart for missions both locally and abroad.
About our current pastor
Pastor Carmen is a loving and caring person who enjoys sharing about the wonderful things that God has done in her life and how He can work great things in your life as well.
Early on
She knew that she wanted to serve in God’s kingdom having been exposed to ministry by her grandmother who often took her along to participate in local missions at New York City hospitals, mental institutions, as well as street evangelism. She retired in 2022 after 22 years of service in Clinical Research to enter into full time ministry. While in the Research field she had the opportunity to work with experts in the fields of Neurology, Cardiology, Pediatric Gastroenterology and Pulmonology that led to important advances in medicine.
Recently
After raising two sons, God granted the desires of her heart and she was able to go on several mission trips to Guatemala and Ecuador. In 2019, she graduated from the Lower Westchester Bible Institute of the Spanish Eastern District of the Assemblies of God (SEDAG) and joined it’s the faculty that same year. She received her credentials as a certified minister with the Assemblies of God in July of 2023 and was officially installed as Pastor of MUI Church on July 3, 2023 by the Presbyter of the Westchester Section of SEDAG. Her goal and desire is to disciple, develop and empower God’s people to expand God’s kingdom here on earth and bring in the harvest of souls in these end times.
